The food at Gardensnack is absolutely amazing! Their concept is simple but brilliant: every dish starts with a generous base of rice and 5–6 different delicious vegetarian curries. From there, you can choose to keep it vegetarian or add chicken, lamb, or beef. Every meal also comes served with a few pieces of crispy papadam. The portions here are massive—so big that my wife often splits her portion into two full meals. I, on the other hand, never share mine; the food is so good I just can't stop eating and always finish it in one sitting! Given the size and quality, the prices are an absolute steal for Switzerland: only 14 SFr. for the vegetarian option and 17 SFr. if you add meat. It is incredible value for money. You can either dine in or take it to go. The restaurant features a lovely garden seating area that is partially covered, so you can still enjoy eating outside even if the weather turns bad. Highly recommended! Meal type: Lunch Vegetarian options: Main dish is vegeterian, adding meat is just an option.

It took a bit of sleuthing but we found Gardensnack at the end of 24 Obstgartenstrasse. There was a simple menu posted on a chalkboard at the entrance to the garden dining area. We had the mixed chicken and beef curry with rice, Appenzeller beer and Evian mineral water. Our server gave my husband some of the paper placemats for a souvenir. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. As you can see in the pictures, our food was served with papadums and arranged attractively on our plates. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CHF 10–20 Vegetarian options: Yes they had a vegetarian entre on the menu.
