A very nice idea for a day trip if you’re nearby. For €7, you get a short tour of the wine cellar with a glass of wine to taste. The area is beautiful for walking around, and there’s a lovely viewpoint. We didn’t try any food, so I can’t comment on that, but it can get quite busy if you choose to eat in the restaurant. I’ve visited twice already and would definitely come back again.

Thanks to our Danube river cruise that we could see this beautiful place. Ilok, the easternmost part of Croatia, has a long history of almost 1800 years of wine making. Our guide explained to us a lot of things about wine making. Its most famous wine Traminac is also served at Court of England. Its other famous wines are Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Ilok has hot a secondary and high school which helps wine/ fruit growers and wine makers.
