The showcase and the counter are the prelude to the visual and olfactory "empire of the senses" which is unleashed once you cross the threshold. Imagination, goodness, tradition, quality, a mix of choices for all palates; it's useless to talk about individual things...I invite you to try them and in Pirandellian terms: "To each their own". If you add to all this that behind the counter all the delicacies are recommended by 2 angels of beauty and sweetness who I cannot help but define as a fairy and a doll, you will have understood that this reaches the apotheosis! Calzolari needs no introduction, at least for those born and lived in Bologna. Starting from Monghidoro more than half a century ago, in recent years it has opened various shops around the city including this store in San Lazzaro. Aside from the pleasant surprise, I admit I was a little skeptical about the success of the business, given the difficulty with which some businesses in particular manage to emerge and survive over time in our charming town (it would be interesting to delve deeper into the reasons, but this is not the appropriate location). Luckily, history has proven me wrong and the reason is that quality always pays off. I am not going to list the wide range of breads, the legendary mountain sugars, the crescent Bolognese (true Bolognese call it "crescenta with cracklings"), the pear and walnut panettone at Christmas and all the other baked products (croissants, pizzas, tarts, biscuits). Naturally, this small place is crowded and there is a bit of a wait, even if the staff does their best to guarantee a fairly quick and efficient service. The only note, perhaps, is the opening hours which do not make it easier for those like me who leave very early for work. I hope an indissoluble bond is created, so much so that it becomes an integral part of the city's DNA. Obviously recommended. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
