We live nearby n for the first time dined here. Tha Mango paneer curry was exquisite in flavour . The ambience was great. Highly recommend Meal type: Lunch Price per person: CHF 20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I recently visited House of Spice in the heart of Rapperswil, and overall, it was a very pleasant experience—especially as a family with a baby, which is always my main lens when evaluating a place. The restaurant is centrally located in the charming old town of Rapperswil, which already sets a lovely tone for the evening. The atmosphere inside is warm and inviting, with a typical Indian restaurant aesthetic—rich colors, cozy lighting, and a relaxed, unpretentious vibe. It’s not overly fancy, which I actually appreciated, especially when dining with a baby. We didn’t feel out of place at all, and there was enough space to manage comfortably with a stroller, which is something I always notice immediately when entering a restaurant. From a culinary perspective, the food was genuinely good. I ordered the curry prawns, which were flavorful, nicely spiced, and well-balanced—not too heavy, which I personally prefer. My partner went for a chicken dish, and he was equally satisfied. It’s one of those places where you feel confident ordering classic Indian dishes and getting exactly what you expect: comforting, well-executed food. The pricing is also fair for Switzerland—definitely not cheap, but reasonable for the quality and location. When it comes to visiting with a baby, I would say this place works quite well. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and while it’s not explicitly a “family-focused” restaurant, we felt welcome. The ambiance is calm enough that a baby can stay relaxed, and the service was flexible, which makes a big difference when you’re managing feeding times or unexpected moments. I didn’t specifically notice baby facilities like changing tables, but practically speaking, the overall environment was comfortable enough to make the experience smooth. One important detail to highlight is that they do not serve alcohol. For us, it wasn’t a problem, but it’s definitely something to be aware of if you’re expecting to enjoy a glass of wine or beer with your meal. It slightly changes the dining experience, especially for an evening out. Overall, this is a solid, reliable Indian restaurant in Rapperswil. It may not be a destination dining spot, but it delivers good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a comfortable setting—even with a baby. I would absolutely come back when I’m in the mood for Indian food, especially knowing that it’s an easy and stress-free option as a parent.
