We found ourselves by chance in this hotel restaurant, during my summer holidays, with my son and my father. It was our first visit to this beautiful country and this lovely little place was recommended to us by a local. We climbed up the numerous stairs, among the ancient houses of the picturesque village, close to the rock face and here is the Hotel Relais Scaffe. But what a charm! It is certainly the typical place that could easily be presented in one of those famous television programs, restaurants or hotels in Italy, making a great impression. Partially dug into the rock, the building houses several spacious rooms and elegant dining rooms, in an atmosphere of pleasant intimacy, from which you can observe and contemplate a truly unforgettable panorama. The furnishings are sober and extremely refined, with that touch of rustic (given by the bare stone) which adds an extra richness. The dishes were really excellent: in particular, the first course of pasta with porcini mushrooms that I chose was truly superlative and also the sheep steak, which melted in the mouth, had an intense and spectacular flavour. The staff is trained and competent; we were recommended and served by a very young blonde girl, cheerful, friendly and full of good qualities. At the end of the meal, even though we had already finished and were leaving, the same girl kept showing us other rooms in the hotel, near the dining room and the entrance, and it was a further delight for our eyes; we left with the desire to return with more peace of mind and also try one of the rooms, but unfortunately the holidays were already over... In my opinion, the overall rating goes beyond 5 stars! For the refinement of the place and the quality of the food, I would say that the price is more than honest, therefore I can absolutely recommend this hotel restaurant, and a nice holiday in the magical Pennapiedimonte.
