Clean and spacious with excellent value for Switzerland I stayed at Hotel Höfli for just one night but was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The welcome at reception was warm and genuinely friendly which made for a smooth and relaxed check-in. The room was impressively spacious and simply but thoughtfully furnished. There is a certain 90s charm to the style with light wooden furniture and deep red curtains yet everything felt well maintained and inviting. There was a sofa which gave the room a relaxed and comfortable feel without sacrificing space. Cleanliness throughout was impeccable. The room and bathroom were spotless and looked after with clear attention to detail. Everything worked as it should and the space felt fresh and hygienic. Parking is available directly outside the hotel and is free of charge which adds to the already strong value for money. This is especially worth noting in a Swiss context where extras like parking often come at a premium. Breakfast was a continental selection and while simple it was absolutely sufficient. I appreciated the freshness of the bread and rolls and the cheese was of good quality. There were also eggs, jam, yoghurt and fresh fruit available. It was a calm and pleasant start to the day. While the room does not feature air conditioning a small fan had been provided and the large windows allow for good ventilation. For most of the year this would be more than enough to keep things comfortable. Overall I found Hotel Höfli to offer excellent value. The atmosphere was calm and respectful the facilities clean and well maintained and the service warm without being overbearing. For a short stay in Altdorf it is an easy recommendation.
