We chose to get an upgraded with a view of the Matterhorn - arrived on a rainy, cloudy afternoon and we were warned at reception that with the low clouds we wouldn’t be seeing it that day but to trust them, it was there! Sure enough, the next two mornings, we had great views (like 100 pictures worth!) between sunrise through about 8:30 am., with the appearance changing by the minute as the sun reflected off the snow and clouds! Had the three-course special dinner in the restaurant one night and the food was delicious and service excellent. There is a very popular bar downstairs if you are so inclined, (and if not, just be prepared for some late night noise.)

I visted thıs fabulous hotel last weekend to celebrate my husband's 60 th birthday with our nephew whom lives in Switzerland.Davut our nephew had arranged us to stay at Excelsior Hotel. The rooms were very comfortable,the bathroom even had the same hairdryer I use at home....We had our evening meal at the reastaurant ...and chosed the Medici steak..which was the best steak I have ever tasted which was cooked in our presence by Doris whom specialised in the process of preparing our meal...We ordered a local wine which we enjoyed very much...I also had a glass of hot red wine to feel the christmas festive in this beautiful Zermatt town.During our meal Doris attended our table and asked if we were happy with our meal....we were even given a home made shot which was very tasty.The hotel is situated at the centre of town which is very convenient to move around the facilities and surroundings of the mountains.
We throughly enjoyed ou breakfast too......If ever I would visit Zermatt....I would stay at hotel Excelsior again........My husband and nephew were also pleased to have stayed here...My nehew Davut hopes he will have many more visits with his friends and family.
We would like to say thank you to all the staff and especially a big thank you to Doris.....
