Haus der Universität is a hidden gem in Bern! The building is impressive and the interior is splendid. It’s often used for business events, but the restaurant itself is elegant, with attentive service and excellent food. Pro tip: If you can't find a reservation via their homepage, just give them a call—they might still have a table available! I chose from the à la carte menu and started with the Nüsslersalat (lamb's lettuce). It was a generous portion served with two egg halves, crunchy croutons, and a delicious, slightly creamy vinaigrette. The Beef Stroganoff was the highlight of the meal—the beef was cooked perfectly medium-rare, served in a slightly spicy sauce with paprika notes and topped with crispy fried onions. The side of tagliatelle was the perfect accompaniment. I finished with a chocolate tart. The shell was nice and crispy, and the dark chocolate and hazelnut filling was wonderful. The tart was served with orange supremes, which added a lovely freshness. A real feast—highly recommended! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: CHF 70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
