Huge and impressive dam with a height of 285 meters. It is the more massive dam with this height in the world. It was built between 1953 and 1961, and 6 million cubic meters of concrete were used to achieve the structure. The huge reservoir created is called "Lac de Dix" - Lake Dix, meaning ten in French. You can drive up to the base of the dam and park your car there. There is a cable car taking you up to the top where you can walk on the verge of the dam and admire the scenery. It's just stunning.

Visited in September before they shut for the winter and well worth the visit of you're in the area. It's hard to imagine how tall the dam is until you're stood at the bottom looking up we took the inside tour and glad we did as it was quite interesting. My kids also went on the zip wire across the dam and enjoyed it a lot There is a restaurant in the nearby hotel which serves nice coffees so would recommend a visit there too.
