On our way back from Kopitnik and Rimske Toplice, we spontaneously decided to stop at Gostišče Flosar in Radeče, because it sits right by the Sava River, surrounded by mountains and beautiful scenery. It was a sunny Saturday, a few tables on the terrace were already taken, and the whole place immediately felt like a perfect spot to pause for a drink before heading home. The moment we stepped out of the car and sat down, we could smell fried calamari coming from the kitchen. It was the kind of smell you normally associate with the Adriatic coast or the Mediterranean, but here the oil did not smell stale or overused at all. Instead, it was fresh, clean, and the calamari aroma was genuinely inviting. The overall ambiance of Gostišče Flosar is that of a relaxed beach‑bar lounge you would expect to find by the sea: a bright terrace, casual vibe, and a setting that really makes the most of the river and mountain views. Everything looks relatively new or freshly renovated, and the terrace was run by a very attentive and busy waitress who seemed to have an eye on every table without ever feeling pushy. We started with coffee, which was excellent. It was properly prepared, with a rich aroma and full taste, and whatever blend they are using is absolutely on point. As we were enjoying our drinks, we noticed the food on some of the nearby tables and decided to ask for the menu. The menu turned out to be surprisingly extensive: a long list of pancakes, daily dishes and a wide selection of pizzas, plus, of course, fried calamari, which seem to be one of the crowd favourites here. Naturally, we had to try them. The calamari were absolutely spot on – perfectly seasoned, with a great texture, not chewy at all, and just the right level of crunch. The seasoning mix tasted like a thoughtful combination of cayenne pepper, garlic, paprika and tartar sauce, and it worked very well. The fries served alongside were clearly a standard, industrial type and could have used a bit more seasoning and crispness, but that is a minor detail in the bigger picture. Between the setting by the Sava, the mountain backdrop, the beach‑bar ambiance, the excellent coffee, and the perfectly fried calamari, this place easily earns a 5 from us – not just for the food, but for the overall effort, atmosphere, and the genuinely good feeling it left us with that day.
