Last Sunday for lunch, after a short but intense walk in Roccapietra in the area of Lake Sant'Agostino, a dear friend of ours from Varallo took us to the C'ERA UNA VOLTA restaurant, located in Villa San Giovanni, about 2 kilometers from the center of Borgosesia. Very hot Sunday which led us to eat on the balcony on the first floor of the restaurant, with a wide view of nature and a source of fresh water which with its "murmur" enlivened the lunch giving a semblance of coolness. Excellent place and friendly and helpful staff, about thirty seats inside and another fifteen on the adjacent balcony. It offers Piedmontese cuisine with a limited menu, but enriched with dishes of the day Appetizer with vegetable pie that melted in your mouth, a palette of very refined and fresh cold cuts, Tartare that was spectacular to say the least. Exciting moments cooking local meats and vegetables live on my soapstone, for a few minutes I thought I was a MasterChef. Excellent product quality (between Biella and Vercelli) and suggestive location. The particularity of the soapstone kitchen is certainly the strong point of the place. A bottle of Chardonnay from Piedmont to refresh and delight the palate and match the meat tastings. A tasting of dessert with coffee and grappa at the end, at a more than fair price of around 33 Euros per person. To be proposed again in another season, perhaps in autumn to better appreciate the meat, a big applause to the owner Claudia.
