Esperienza bellissima al Capitano Drake! La degustazione è stata davvero speciale. Tutto lo staff è stato gentilissimo e accogliente, in particolare i proprietari, davvero di una cordialità eccezionale. Un grazie speciale anche alla sommelier, che con grande simpatia e competenza ci ha fatto scoprire il meraviglioso mondo del vino. Un’esperienza che ricorderemo con piacere. Torneremo sicuramente! We were in the Lake Como area and one of the people in our group of 7 arranged a fun, informative, and entertaining activity at Capitan Drake. The entire time frame for the event was between 90-120 minutes. We arrived and were greeted by a young lady named Sandu. She spoke fluent Italian and English. She had the table set up for our party of 7, and had us captivated with her knowledge of wines and delivery. I know it definitely takes a special person to get in front of people you do not know, have the ability to stay on task and message, take adhoc questions and answer them confidently. If you haven't guessed, this was a short class on wines, wine tasting, what foods go well with the wines, and at the end there is a NO pressure option to purchase some of the bottles you just sampled, and/or have them shipped to your house (for a fee). In our two hours there, Sandu covered 2 white wines, and 3 red wines. She was really good with her detail. I thought the environment very pleasant and the light foods that accompanied the wine to clean the palate were perfect. Just know this is not a dinner place (or at least we did not eat dinner), but is a place to try wines, bring a book and read while having a glass, and just enjoy the atmosphere. We definitely had a fantastic time and enjoyed it our wine tasting event, and Sandu's humor. I hope that if you decide to visit this place that your experience is as memorable and good or better than mine. Great job Sandu and hats off to the owner. 07/30/2025 Update I received my shipped wine today from Captain Drake. It shipped on 7/22. No bottles broken, and no issues.
