Me (Irish guy) and my Italian girlfriend are writing this review by the seafront with a glass of wine in our hands from the tasting we attended earlier with Armezio... Two days ago I googled "wine tasting Rapallo" and found 'Cantina Du Pùsu '. I sent an email straight away and was in touch with Armezio who asked us what we would like to do. The communication was friendly and efficient. We arrived at 18.30 this evening and were welcomed at the door by Armezio. He explained a little bit about the heritage and history of the establishment. It is now in its third generation and we also got to meet the son and grandson of the original owner (they waved and greeted us as they restocked the shelves with even more bottles of wine). Armezio then took us out to the private garden and not only allowed us, but encourages us, to make ourselves at home. We checked out the flowers and vegetables and smelled the herbs. We sat down and were offered a choice of 3 sparkling wines to begin the evening. We tried 3 wines over the course of the session (one sparkling, one white and one red), and in between we nibbled on focaccia and cheese. Armezio gave us a brief but detailed introduction to each type of wine (for each type you're given a choice of 3 bottles). The information and advice he gave us was concise but informative. If we had any further questions he had all the information we needed. We opted for the carpaccio to accompany the red wine and we were not disappointed. It was "Fassona" beef, which is sourced from a local butcher. Absolutely delicious. All in all, its something we'll never forget. We're leaving Rapallo tomorrow morning, not only with great memories but also with the bottles we didn't finish at the tasting, and for 72euro all included how could you possibly want to do anything else here!? Salute to Rapallo and Salute to Cantina Du Pùsu!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
