Did you know that Gradac has a restaurant featured in the Michelin Guide? No? Well, it doesn’t matter one bit, because what this town really has is Pizzeria Marmont. This is a family-run place in the best sense of the word, and you feel it the moment you sit down. The service is genuinely welcoming, never rushed, never stiff. The lady of the house looks after the food and keeps the whole restaurant running smoothly, with the kind of easy hospitality that makes you want to stay for one more drink. Her husband is the pizzaiolo, and what he pulls out of that wood-fired oven might just be the best pizza in Croatia. The crust has that perfect char and chew that only a proper wood oven can give, and you can taste the care that goes into every one. What makes their pizza truly unique are the toppings with a Croatian twist. Some of their pizzas you genuinely won’t find anywhere else in the world. The pizzaiolo is also a carpenter, and he built the wooden details of the interior himself. To round it all off, they even serve their own wine, produced by the family. And the best news? The season is just beginning. :) So if you’re heading to the Dalmatian coast, do yourself a favour and stop in Gradac. Skip the guidebooks and go straight to Marmont. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
