The Safran was my favourite restaurant in Schaffhausen and I often came here with visitors. Unfortunately the experience changed since the restaurant reopened under new ownership and the 1001 Nacht name. The menu is very well presented, but there are no vegetarian main courses. The waiter was very friendly though a bit inexperienced. He advised to order a rice side dish combined with a veggie starter to the two vegetarians in our party, which they did. We did however also order two separate starters for our party of four to share. Unfortunately the kitchen didn't get that message and in the end all ordered food arrived at once. The food itself was only ok, especially compared to the excellent meals prior to the ownership change. We were surprised about the choices of seasoning and freshness: the veggie rice was seasoned with dry herbs instead of fresh and some of the grilled vegetables on two of the plates had a slightly off taste to them. In the end we were fed, but didn't have the "wow" and good-value-for-money experience we had expected. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CHF 30–40

Excellent service, beautiful place and Chef is amazing. Mr. Omer is a nice guy and very understanding, he cares about the customer and advice like brother about the food order. Nice to meet you Mr. Omer. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
