Non scordarti di degustare i curatissimi vitello, cordon bleu e alette di pollo al ristorante Brasserie du Lac. Last week we were at the Brasserie du Lac in Weesen around 10 a.m. and wanted to have a coffee/summit before a boat trip. Self-service is the order of the day at the counter in the restaurant, no problem, quite understandable after a pandemic and a likely staff shortage. We waited in a short line and the young man at the checkout did his best but there was a tense atmosphere in the room. A choleric older employee stood at the coffee machine and stared so penetratingly at the young man's fingers, making a mess of him in front of us guests, it was extremely unpleasant for everyone involved. Hats off to the young man who remained calm and friendly despite this unspeakable situation. When it was my turn, I said to the young man: You are doing your job very well, don't let yourself be put off. Later, when I went to the toilet, I found out in a short conversation that the young man was in his first year of training. It's a shame that superiors in the catering industry still think they have to treat young (still learning) staff like this. I trained in the catering industry myself in the 1990s and unfortunately experienced a lot in this regard, but that was 30 years ago... If there is a personnel shortage in a not-so-attractive professional group, the superiors should consider whether they... can afford to treat adolescents so badly. It doesn't speak for the supposedly older generation when young people are so degraded and humiliated - unfortunately there is no trace of the wisdom of the older generation. This was very, very unpleasant for me and my companions and employee training for the cholerically overwhelmed superior would be a good investment. However, there is nothing wrong with the location and the coffee and the croissants and the young, very friendly and courteous man.
