Brasserie du Jorat is a microbrewery that resides in a small one-story 60-year-old white building with a ceramic roof. It is the only brewery in the small town of Vulliens which is surrounded by farmlands. Park anywhere around the stand-alone building, or in the spaces across the street. Outside you’ll see the brewery logo, the black silhouette of a deer, on their signage. Inside, it’s not a big place. There is a wooden picnic table in the center, surrounded by the brewing equipment. The floor is brick and the walls and low ceiling are white. The brewery started on a small pot brewing system in 2006, and has since expanded to use full-size equipment. The brewhouse has skinny tall copper brewing vessels near the side entrance and on the left are stainless steel fermenters. They use both standard conical fermenters and shorter cylindrical open top fermenters. Near the side wall is a small circular bottle filling machine. The brewery does not have a bar or food service, and is really just an outlet for bottle sales. They have about a half-dozen varieties available to go. They do keep one beer on tap for a free sample, which the owner is happy to share. The owner is a nice man and is happy to explain the history of the brewery.
