Today I had lunch at the Brasserie Reh on Marktgasse in Winterthur. I found a shady outdoor table at street level and was served quickly and very friendly. I got beef bourguignon and mashed potatoes garnished with fried onions in a separate bowl. Overall it was a huge portion. I was already full after half of it. It was presented quite nicely, but I could tell at first glance that it wasn't the Boeuf Burguignon that I know and love. It was OK, so nothing that really wows me. The service was really great and deserved 5 stars. It is worth mentioning that the building was built in 1615 and was originally attached to the clock tower of the western city gate, also known as the Chefiturm. In 1871 the city gate was demolished. The historic rooms on the first floor are particularly worth seeing. The beamed ceiling bears the year 1620. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
