Bistro Centar was, without any doubt, one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. If you value polite, professional customer service, avoid this restaurant. While we were still finishing our meal, they turned off the lights on the terrace even though customers were still seated at their tables. Instead of politely informing us that they were about to close, they chose a rude and disrespectful way of rushing customers out. Shortly afterwards, they came around handing out the bills in a very abrupt manner. When we politely asked if the bill could be split into two, we were arrogantly told that they ādonāt split bills.āWe fully understand that a restaurant may have its own policies, and if splitting bills is not possible, that is their decision. The issue was never the policy itself,it was the way we were treated. A simple, polite explanation would have been enough. Instead, when we calmly expressed our disappointment, one of the staff members told us, āDonāt talk too much,ā in an intimidating and completely unacceptable tone. We have travelled to many countries and have never been treated with such disrespect simply for expressing our opinion in a polite manner. To make matters worse, during a previous visit, after my motherās bill had already been paid, it later appeared again on another groupās bill, which left us seriously concerned about the restaurantās organisation and the way bills are handled. Good food can never make up for terrible customer service. Respect for customers should be the minimum standard, but at Bistro Centar it seems to be completely lacking. Perhaps the management and staff should learn what hospitality really means. Serving food is only one part of the job; treating customers with courtesy, respect and professionalism is what makes a restaurant worth visiting. Unfortunately, this restaurant showed a complete lack of customer service culture. We will never return and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are far better places to eat in Slunj where customers are treated with the respect they deserve. If you donāt want to spoil your trip, we strongly recommend choosing another restaurant.
