Bijou was like a bright oasis in the dessert, emotions due not only to my state at the time of a wet, cold and hungry dog! Even in the clouds and rain the quaintness shone through! It is right on a beautiful river nestled between an ivy covered hill with walking paths and a large bridge with beautiful architecture. Once I shook off the rain, got a bathroom run in and settled in, I felt more like a human being with each passing minute. The service was beautiful and I was especially grateful they spoke English. After some google translate of the menu I got the Flammkuchen Fromage and HOLY COW was it good! It tasted like a focaccia di recco which is a favorite of mine. Didn't exactly work like a regular pizza to fold and eat with your hands but in a good way because it was so delightfully thin. The flavor of the cheese was perfection. Distinct flavors yet creamy and the perfect texture. There was some herb sprinkled on top but not sure exactly what it was. I got a local wine from Aargau which happened to be delicious! For dessert I had to try the vermicelli. It looked like this dessert I had as a kid that were crunchy dessert noodles but it was not the same at all! It had a base that tasted like cheese cake.
