Overall Rating: (5/5) — World-Class Customer Service and Stellar Recovery! We stopped by Bistro Beštija on a bustling Saturday evening without a prior reservation. Even though booking ahead is highly advisable for weekends, the hospitable staff kindly accommodated us and seated us inside. What began as a minor culinary mismatch transformed into one of the finest dining experiences we have encountered in Zagreb, courtesy of the owner’s unparalleled hospitality. The Drinks & StartersJagunić Rosé: We initiated our evening with two glasses of Jagunić Rosé wine. It was crisp, impeccably balanced, and an absolutely superb choice. Bluefin Tuna Tartare: Ordered subsequently upon the owner’s recommendation, this dish was an absolute masterpiece. The bluefin tuna was remarkably fresh, locally sourced from Croatia's Adriatic Sea, and masterfully curated. The Main DishesThe Burgers & Tallow Fries: We selected the burgers, which featured a harissa-infused sauce, paired with artisanal fries rendered in tallow. The fries, crafted from local Croatian potatoes, were highly flavorful, though they might have benefited from a fraction less time in the fryer. Regrettably, the harissa sauce proved a bit too tart (sour) and intensely spicy for our personal palates, and both of us struggled to finish the burger. The Beefsteaks: This is precisely where Beštija completely captivated us. ️ Spectacular Hospitality: Noticing our struggle with the burgers, the owner immediately approached our table to personally check on our experience. While we insisted it was merely a matter of personal preference, he refused to let us depart unsatisfied. He graciously apologized, cleared our plates, and swiftly presented us with two flawlessly executed medium-rare beefsteaks with extra fries alongside two complimentary glasses of rosé.He took the time to passionately articulate the restaurant's farm-to-table philosophy, and generously extended the steaks and additional wine on the house.The Verdict is exceedingly rare to find an establishment that cares this profoundly about its patrons. While the harissa burger did not align with our tastes, the pristine bluefin tuna tartare, the impeccable beefsteak, and the peerless customer service have earned them lifelong patrons.
