Before leaving your money here or supporting this place in any possible way, please be aware that its landlady is abusing her employees to work over 12 hours a day (while not even a bit helping them do their job) and moreover, directly calls them idiots. As a hospitality industry professional, I am appalled to see anyone treating their employees in such an inhumane manner! Loyal employees are assets, not liabilities! Do not even step your foot here and spread the word.

I still cannot believe what my wife and my 1 and 1/2 year old son experienced at this place!We had just finished the hour long walk around the beautiful Engstilgenalp plateau and were heading back towards the cable car. We were looking for somewhere to have lunch before heading back down and saw the Berghaus Bärtschi and decided to go check it out. Umbrellas were out and a lady was moving things around the terrasse so we thought it was open. As we approached the restaurant, the lady started speaking very rudely to us. I don't speak German but my wife can understand a little bit and this is what we were greeted with:"geschlossen ist geschlossen""can't you read the sign, it says we're closed""leave now"All of this in an unpleasant tone accompanied by rude hand gestures.I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. All she had to say is "sorry, we're closed" and that would have been it. We would have walked away and found something else but she insisted on verbally aggressing my wife and my son for nothing!We ended up having a lovely lunch at the Berghotel Engstligenalp.Afterwards, as luck would have it, we shared a cablecar down the mountain with this lady and her two dogs. I already knew I was going to write a review for our experience but I thought to myself that if she apologised to us for her behaviour, maybe I wouldn't.The fact that this review is here is proof that she didn't say a word to us. She couldn't even look us in the eye.I have never ever received treatment like that from a restaurant in my entire life. Do not go to this place.

Good spot for a quick beer & breakfast after kleidersteig. Affordable prices for rooms and fair standards.
