It may not be so common for a new place to open up in Zagreb, and for it to have such a great and most successful story from the very beginning. Bastion No. 19 gives a new perspective on what you call a fine, wine bar. Safe to say, maybe the only one in Zagreb at this moment that does everything correctly when it comes to wine. Firstly, you will walk into an establishment that has every right to carry the name. The interior is amazing, modern yet cosy and inviting and draws you into the space and keeps you there, very comfortable. Great lightning design, with modern incandescent light bulbs that stand as a statement for themselves. The menu is spot on. From the usual coffee, tea and soft drinks that you can get anywhere, the beer offer is not so common. It is great! My personal favourite, the local craft ABA beer called ''Nova Runda'', along with which you will find great German beers and other craft wonders from the beer scene. Now, the wine... Something you will notice right away is the ever-changing wine list, practically set in small folders that allow the list to be changed and supplemented. There is a great and vast wine by the glass offer, also some very rare wines on the list that won't leave you indifferent (Orthogneiss Muscadet, Marienburg Clemensbusch Riesling, La Stoppa Ageno, Plava Greda Blatina - just to mention some personal favourites from the many). Secondly, this is not a place where you order a glass of wine and have it brought to you from the backstage of the bar or something (FINALLY). No... You have your wine of choice brought to you in its bottle, alongside an empty glass that is yet to be filled with wine after you have had a sip and taste of it. That is the meaning of a wine bar, finally, we have a wine bar that stands up to the phrase. I will not continue without mentioning the very professional, kind and thoroughly precise waiters that familiarise you with the wine's origin, location and story, so that you know exactly what it is that you are drinking Hats down to them. All in all, if you are a wine enthusiast / wine lover / wine connoisseur, it is my greatest wish that you drop by and check out what you can truly savour on in Bastion. Also if it's good beer or anything else you want - this is the place for you. Also, in the making, nice cheese, cold meat bites & co. to go with the exceptional offer... Over the top? I think not,.. Bastion No.19 should be the name and the establishment everyone else thrives to.
