Attenzione al proprietario del Café Paisiello a Lecce. È ingiusto, irragionevole e ostile. Inoltre, il cibo non era buono, perché se rutti dopo aver mangiato, significava che non era buono. Price per person: €10–20 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4

Terrible experience: appallingly rude, discourteous, inhospitable, abusive treatment. I loved it because of the location, the good wifi and the general friendliness of the place - been coming since 2011. But it has been destroyed now. I was shouted at and thrown out because I had spent 1.5+ hours there in the morning on 13/9, working quietly but ordering coffees and breakfast right through. And then I left for a hotel check in and returned around 12 to have an iced coffee, a crodino and was waiting to order lunch a bit later. I was first asked if I had finished and could leave - when I had not even started drinking my caffe con giacchio. Then I was forced to share the table with a friend who was working at a nearby table. And when I complained - politely - at the counter about being made to feel unwelcome, a man (bearded middle-aged guy) came out and shouted at me, humiliating me publicly for the crime of having patronised the cafe and come back for lunch. I was told a cafe was not for using computers or working and that I was expected to leave within half an hour of arriving and eating. It was shocking treatment - I have never encountered anything like it in Lecce. I wonder, too, if there was an element of discrimination: both I and my friend are non-white, non-European travellers. But these things are not proveable. What is certain is that this attitude violates the fundamental principles of hospitality and is a blot on a city known for its grace and its friendliness.
