We tried many local restaurants during our stay and this was one of them. I would very much recommend the place - the food was delicious and they have a great selection of wines as well. The staff are great and happy to help with selection. This is better than the supposedly 5-star establishment across the road. Today I reserved a table alone in the BÄR'S Café Bistro Lounge. Even though I arrived about five minutes early, my table wasn't ready, which can happen at busy restaurants. To bridge the short waiting time, I treated myself to a beer at the bar. There I was served by a friendly gentleman. After a short time I was led to a beautiful, spacious table - a promising start to the evening. The service staff consisted of three people, and although the restaurant was quite busy, they were clearly making an effort to serve the guests. However, there were minor mistakes, such as initially not being given the game and wine menu. But the waiter quickly noticed this and promptly offered me an apology by offering me the beer. So the small delay wasn't a big problem, and it showed that the service was willing to learn from mistakes and make the best of them. I chose the pumpkin soup with venison salsiz as a starter and ordered the BÄR'S burger as the main course, but without tomatoes, with French fries. The soup was served very quickly and came with a selection of fresh bread, butter, olive oil and balsamic - a very good start. The wine we ordered with it, a Poggio al Sole Trittico Merlot, was served a little too cool, but that wasn't a big problem. I simply let the wine sit for a bit until it reached its optimal temperature. The taste then developed wonderfully and went perfectly with the main course. The pumpkin soup was excellent: creamy, aromatic and perfectly seasoned. The addition of deer salsiz gave the soup a hearty note that harmonized very well with the pumpkin. The bread that was served with it was also a highlight - fresh, with a crispy crust and soft crumb. The various dips rounded off the first course perfectly. After a short break the burger was served. During this break I noticed that the lounge cushions outside were already being put away, probably because of the late hour. I was outside briefly at this point and was able to observe how the staff worked efficiently. I noticed that the waiter occasionally made sure that everything was OK with me, which I really appreciated. His dedication and attention to guests was remarkable, and it was obvious that he tried his best to ensure each guest had a pleasant experience. The French fries were prepared in a rustic way, served with the skin on, which gave them an intense and natural potato taste. They were crispy and golden brown – just the way I like them. The burger itself was also a pleasant surprise. The roll was by no means your run-of-the-mill roll, but seemed either homemade or sourced from a nearby bakery. It was fluffy and crunchy at the same time - a perfect combination. The meat in the burger was a little overcooked for my taste, but that's often better than a patty that's too raw and cold inside. The lettuce, bacon and mountain cheese harmonized perfectly with each other and made the burger a complete taste experience. The only minor criticism was the cole slaw. It was a little too vinegary, which accentuated the salty flavor and made the entire burger a little too hearty. Nevertheless, this didn't detract much from the overall impression. I tried the first two bites of the burger with my hands, which worked great as the burger held together well. Then I switched to cutlery, which was just as problem-free. Overall, it was a very successful Sunday evening in the BÄR'S Café Bistro Lounge. The ambience was pleasant, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was of a high standard, apart from a few minor criticisms.
