Dopo esserti goduto il Kirche St. Johann, vieni in locale che non si trova lontano. Prova qualcosa di insolito della cucina svizzera. Dopo una lunga giornata di lavoro, puoi concederti qui un delizioso vino.
Excellent food and wine options in a very cozy wood clad dining room. You can see the chef grilling the meats on an open pit charcoal grill on one side of the room. We had a Nüsslisalat, grilled octopus and a grilled Hirsch (deer) fillets.
Adorable traditional Swiss style chalet with sheepskin lined seats and a warm and cozy ambiance. I normally prefer fondue at home because it tends to be far superior than eating it in a restaurant but Alte Schafli did not disappoint. We had the house Alte Schafli fondue served with the local sausage (salami thinly sliced). It was to die for! I can't speak to anything else as that's all we had both times we came here. The wine selection was lovely with the fondue. Be sure to ask the waitress for a recommendation. Service was warm and friendly! We had a shot of Veille Prune to end the evening.
What a lovely experience! To a well traveled American, it feels like an authentic Swiss experience and family owned place. It is a charming, intimate, cozy log cabin house turned into a restaurant, with excellent service, a fire burning in the corner, and charm in every direction. Being an American, it seemed as though all the food in Switzerland is fairly expensive, and Pot au Feu is right on par with the majority of prices you'll find for a nice place (plan on at least $50 USD per person for dinners). Be careful about how your order wine. When asking for the house wine, we were given on of the more expensive bottles, rather than the most economical. We received a lovely complementary starter of meats with the bread and delicious spreads. We also ordered the smoked salmon with cucumbers appetizer comes with a little hash brown cake and was delicious. We opted for the meat fondue (very large quantity) that you cook in oil, due to my gluten sensitivity. It came with 6-8 amazing dip options for your pork, beef and chicken. But the cheese fondue appeared to be quite popular with of course dipping bread, and appeared to come with vegetables. I very much appreciate that they understood enough to discus the gluten free options with me - as most of the restaurants we ate at in Davos and Zurich did. They said to avoid the cheese fondue, although I think they said that because you primarily dip the bread in the cheese fondue and I think I would have been fine dipping the vegetables in it, like I tried at another cheese fondue restaurant in town. Reservations recommended. They even have cute intimate areas for tables of perhaps 6 - 8.
