The rooms were small but clean and warm in the winter and most importantly the staff was very polite. The only problem was the lack of a hairdryer in the rooms, but overall, it was good. Service: 5

Furnishings and rooms quite old, but not particularly disturbing. The key cards are curious and don't fit the rustic style of the hotel at all. In some bathrooms there is a fixed hair dryer, but curiously there is no socket for it, in others there is only a kind of retrofitted bathroom with a very narrow passage door. The Alpenrose seems to live from the restaurant alone, as we were the only guests in the hotel, while the restaurant was fairly well frequented, especially by motorcyclists passing by on the way to the Grimsel or Susten pass. Restaurant is very good and quite unique (I especially recommend Ernesto's Rock Filet), although not cheap. The price for the hotel itself was very good considering the old decor from the 60's/70's. Location also ideal with close proximity to the Grimsel Pass (I recommend everyone as a destination). Innertkirchen is surrounded by mountains on all sides (to get to the supermarket or a pharmacy, you first have to drive up a bit of a mountain to Meiringen), but it's typically Switzerland ;) Would go again.
