Abbiamo cenato nel ristorante prenotato per caso la sera prima del concerto di Ligabue. La posizione è davvero magica, cortile esterno sospeso su un fossato, incastonato tra le mura della rocca del boiardo da un lato e le casette colorate del centro storico dall’altro. Il menu ottimo! Sia l’antipasto ( tortino ai porcini profumatissimo) che i primi (possibilità di fare un tris di tortelloni che abbiamo colto al volo). Molto consigliato per una cena romantica ma anche tra amici. Piacevole sorpresa!

On the occasion of a business trip to Scandiano, my wife and I stayed at the Locanda al Portone guesthouse - the restaurant has the same name and is rated separately. In the middle of Scandiano there is a medieval fortress, the ramparts form an inner courtyard and here is on the third floor above the restaurant and accessible by lift or a breathtaking, historic staircase: A spacious apartment. Consisting of a bedroom, a large bathroom with shower and bidet and a patio, a large terrace with a magnificent view. The double bed is huge, made of heavy old wood, but with modern, pleasantly firm mattresses. The bathroom is old but very clean. The host couple Laura and Domenico have a warmth that you can probably only find in Italy away from the tourist crowds. Breakfast was in the cafe opposite in the courtyard. If you're looking for something completely different to stay overnight than what the standard hotels offer, this is the right place for you! Many thanks from the Hubert family and Ina Schmitz! And here is the rating of the restaurant: The Ristorante Locanda Al Portone is located on the first floor of a historic Scandiano fortress wall - inconspicuous from the outside, dignified from the inside! As is often the case in such cases, expectations were high and were met: As a starter, my wife and I had panzerotti (crispy baked dumplings) filled with delicate mozzarella and tomatoes. For pasta we chose Cappellaci Funghi Tartufo and Fiocchi Pere e Formaggio, followed by a wonderfully light lime sorbet as a surprise from the kitchen. We had the main course with Costine Agnello Dorate (baked lamb ribs) and a Filetto alla Griglia, a grilled fillet of beef. Both cooked to perfection and of excellent meat quality, it melted in your mouth. Plus steamed vegetables. Something sweet was perfect afterwards: Semifreddo Menta Bianca con Ciooccolata (semifreddo with white mint and chocolate sauce) and a mango sorbet: divine! The meal was rounded off with an espresso and a grappa - not forgetting the red spumante... We left the restaurant fed up but happy, with all the best wishes to the innkeepers, Laura and Domenico, and to the silent, attentive waiter. Thank you very much for this culinary experience from Hubert and Ina Schmitz from Linnich! Also for this delicious quest we are sent by Hubert and Ina, in the German countryside! Rooms: Historical! Partly the furniture too, but functional. Nearby activities: A typical small town in Emilia Romagna! Safety: It couldn't be safer: a centuries-old fortress... Food & drinks: Excellent!
