Sweet dry pastries. Ingredients: wheat flour, sugar, eggs, butter or margarine and anise. Bollo de hornasso is eaten on the eve of Easter, as it is in Spain, but in Gibraltar, they are also popular during Christmas. Gibraltar hornassos differ from Spanish hornassos in that they are usually not decorated with boiled eggs on top, but glazed with a beaten egg and sometimes sprinkled with caramel crumbs.
