Had the most amazing experience at Opok27. The food and service were great and the vine cellar looks phenomenal! The place has a lovely owner who took time to show us around and explain how the restaurant came to be. They also have a tasty selection of their own wines. Definitely worth a visit, cannot wait to come back again. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Disappointing and Unwelcoming Experience I recently visited this winery and restaurant with my partner and two of his friends, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing from the moment we arrived. Upon our arrival, the waiter made us feel like we weren’t welcome. When we inquired about seating outdoors, he reluctantly referred us to another staff member, whom we later realized was the owner. It became apparent that both the waiter and the owner seemed inconvenienced by our presence, which immediately set a negative tone. I politely explained that we only wanted to have a quick glass of wine and wouldn’t take up much time. The owner mentioned they needed the tables for other guests who had made reservations (despite the fact that there were still no other customers when we arrived). She finally agreed we can have a quick drink, only if we sit inside, which was completely empty with around 20 tables available. Even then, we were expected to be quick. Once inside, we were left standing, unsure of where to sit, as no one bothered to guide us. To add to the discomfort, the staff in the kitchen were staring at us, which felt invasive and uncomfortable. It’s worth noting that my partner and his two friends are Black, and I couldn’t help but wonder if that played a part in the cold treatment we received. Whether it was due to elitism or racism, we felt incredibly unwelcome and as though we had to beg just to be allowed to sit down. When my partner tried to speak with the waiter about the situation, the waiter was disinterested and made it clear that he didn’t want to discuss it further. At that point, we decided to leave. This wasn’t my first experience with this winery, but sadly, it was consistent with a previous visit. The last time, the owner was also initially unfriendly, though she eventually warmed up a bit. However, on this occasion, the treatment was even worse. For context, my partner is a legal counsel for a London Stock Exchange-listed company, and his friend is a lawyer for a major US law firm. I can’t help but wonder if their behavior would have been different had they known the professional backgrounds of our group—if the issue was elitism. But if it was racism, then no level of status or wealth would have changed the way we were treated. We left and went to another winery, Brolli, across the Austrian border, where we were warmly welcomed. I would not recommend this winery to anyone, especially international guests or casualy dressed. They seem ill-prepared for a diverse clientele, and we left feeling thoroughly disrespected. I am Slovenian and I felt embarassed in front of my international friends. I am trying to show Slovenia to my friends and bussiness partners and this place ruined the experince. I will never return here again. A response to the owner's comment: I appreciate that you manage a busy, popular restaurant, and I understand the need to prioritize guests who have booked tables in advance. However, the issue we experienced was not about being denied a reserved table, but the manner in which we were treated upon arrival —it was the cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming treatment and additonally, staff members staring at us from the kitchen. We shared how we felt during our visit, and it was deeply unpleasant. I hope this feedback encourages more consistent hospitality for all guests in the future. Service: 1

What a bad costumer service from our side to give the booked tables to people who actaully booked them (even months in advance). In a FULLY BOOKED restaurant you were shown to the table where you can have a drink without booking. To apply we as owner or our staff members treated you with racism or elitism is absolutely offensive and legally problematic. Your friend as a law attorney should advise you on making such accusations without a ground. Over the years we have welcomed many international guest from all over the world into our winery and restaurant. And will continued to do so in the future.
What a perfection. Just sit down and enjoy. What a wine they produce, amazing food they prepare, the place in the middle of vineyard, nice and modern decor, new wine cellar. And especially a genuin and warm feeling you get visiting Opok27. You need to hear their story about Opok27. everything in this family run bussiness is transparent to the visitors; there is no hidden agenda. Owners run this story with real passion and dedication. Service, food and wine is on a realy high level. Don’t forget to take a reservation because this is going to be the HOT spot of the area on both sides of the border. Don’t forget to try the Firecracker pet nat; what a extra dry perfection Grega has made! Cheers!
