We had a fantastic lunch at La Taverna del Duca during our tour bus's all-too-brief stop in Amalfi. We were excited to try Spaghetti al Limone since lemons are the taste of the region (get yourself some Limoncello, people!) and this place was the only one we found in the center of town which offered it. Timing was a little tough (not their fault) as we were there in the late morning and they didn't start serving until noon, and pizza making doesn't start for an hour after that...but knowing this we managed to get in first and ordered what we wanted. What we wanted was the aforementioned Spaghetti al Limone which really was fantastic...lemony without being overpowering and done without the use of cream, but still creamy and delicious. I saw another review stating to not order the Spaghetti al Limone because it's just "pasta with lemon juice." This really isn't the case at all. (Look up any pasta al Limone recipe and you'll see for yourself.) This was delicious and definitely a perfect taste representative of the region we were in. The mixed salad was fresh looking and tasting with the surprise and welcome addition of shaved fennel in it. The offering of bread that came with it was generous. We also especially appreciated how their menu was clearly labeled with what was vegeterian. (And there were plenty of options.) The only slight bummer was, even though we were first in, it took a long time to get our food and we had to rush to eat it to make it back to our bus in time. We looked at almost every menu in this part of Amalfi before choosing La Taverna del Duca...we made the right choice.
